Profile : Dr. Maheep Singh Gaur
Dr. Maheep Singh Gaur is a graduate from Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, India. He passed his bachelor's degree in Medicine [M.B.B.S.] in 1986 and Masters degree in Surgery [M.S.] in 1990. He has practiced neurosurgery since 1994 following his residency and postdoctoral degree program [M.Ch] in Neurosurgery at S.M.S. Medical College & Hospital, Jaipur under Rajasthan University. In 1996 he joined fellowship program in Stereotactic Functional Neurosurgery and Stereotactic Radiosurgery at Stereotaxis and Gamma Unit Centre, Fujieda Heisei Memorial Hospital, Shizuoka, Japan, under Dr. Tatsuo Hirai and Dr. Takaaki Takizawa, During this fellowship he participated in about 500 Gamma Knife Surgeries and Micro recording assisted functional neurosurgery procedures for movement disorders. He learnt various aspects of stereotactic frame based and frameless neuro-navigation.
On return to India in 1997 he joined Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences [Vimhans] at New Delhi India as Consultant Neurosurgeon. In 1998 he established the first gamma knife center in a dedicated neuroscience center in the SAARC region. He was head of Gamma knife surgery since then at Vimhans. He has experience of more than 3000 Gamma Knife Treatments collectively. He was a visiting consultant to Cyberknife center in New Delhi for spinal Radiosurgery. In past he participated in Cyberknife treatment overseas when this modality was not available in India.
He has keen interest in Particle therapy and has been trained through the ESTRO training program in 2009. He has been visiting various particle therapy centers in Europe, USA and Japan to gain experience in technology.
He is a founder member of Asian Gamma Knife Academy and conducted the first Asian Gamma Knife Training Program at Saitama, Japan and annually thereafter. He developed Goodwill Hospital & Research Centre at Noida, Delhi National Capital region as Chief Executive Officer from March 2008 till August 2009.
He became director of Kumud Chawla Gamma Knife Centre at Goodwill Hospital in August 2009 with new Gamma Knife Perfexion Installation. He worked successfully and managed the center till December 2014 when the hospital closed down for reasons related to the investors and senior management.
He is also Managing Director of Toyo Santé Medicare health care company managing Medical Centre, running medical tourism for inbound and outbound patients and various other healthcare related services.
He is the most experienced Neurosurgeon for Gamma Knife Radiosurgery and with experience in Cyberknife and Proton Therapy.
He is presently Director of Neuroradiosurgery at Valentis Cyberknife Centre, Meerut. India
